For our client in the retail industry, we are seeking a fulltime Accounting Assistant - Accounts Payable. Ready to take on this challenge?

What will you do?
As an Accounting Assistant you will be responsible for processing all accounts payable transactions for Curaçao and Aruba operations. You will play a key role in ensuring suppliers are paid on time and that all related financial processes are well-documented and properly followed. You will be part of the Finance team of six and report directly to the Finance Manager. In this role, you will regularly liaise with department heads, branch managers, support teams, etc. to ensure that all invoices and payments are accurate, authorized, and properly recorded.
Further responsibilities:

  • Control expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices, resolving purchase order, contract, or payment discrepancies;
  • Proactively follow up with internal departments to obtain missing approvals or resolve discrepancies;
  • Processing of vendor invoices in the AP Module and preparing payments to ensure suppliers are paid on a timely basis;
  • Assist with the timely creation of Purchase Orders, the year-end and audit processes;
  • Ensure that accounting and financial transactions are processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with accounting standards;
  • Contribute to execution of GL accounts reconciliations and preparation of schedules supporting the accounting records on a timely basis;
  • Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the Finance Department by assisting with embedding the internal controls throughout the company, especially the ones with direct financial risk.


Who are you?
You are organized, goal-oriented, and assertive, especially when it comes to following up with colleagues to ensure smooth financial operations.

  • A professional certification in Finance and Accounting at MBO / SBO level;
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar position;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with intermediate Excel skills;
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English and Dutch;
  • General knowledge of financial accounting practices, techniques, and principles;
  • Good analytical, interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset;
  • Confident and assertive communicator who ensures deadlines and follow-ups are met without hesitation.
