Internal Auditor - SZV

SZV is responsible for the administrative and financial management of the social and health insurances of Sint Maarten. Providing access to a variety of medical insurance benefits, pension allowances, loss of wages for employers and ensuring compliance in premium collection.

Role

As an Internal Auditor, you play a critical role in ensuring SZV’s operational integrity by conducting comprehensive internal audits, identifying and mitigating risks, and enhancing processes across various departments. A strong understanding of audit techniques and standards is essential. This position reports directly to the Internal Audit Manager and functionally to the Senior Internal Auditor.
Your key duties and responsibilities include:

• Conducting internal audits, independently and collaboratively, to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Supporting external and IT auditors in financial statement audits by gathering required data and analyzing management letters.
• Leading or assisting in special investigations related to efficiency, effectiveness, fraud, or other irregularities, preparing detailed reports on findings.
• Providing advisory support to the Management Team, through the Internal Audit Manager and Senior Internal Auditor, on risk management, AO/IC, efficiency, compliance, and anti-fraud policies. Drafting policy documents, memos, and proposals as needed.
• Acting as the primary liaison with the audit software vendor, testing new functionalities and proposing improvements for audit automation.

Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance.
• CPA, CIA, or ACCA certifications preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of internal procedures and applicable legislation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Dutch.
• Minimum of three to five years of experience in accounting or auditing.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
