Job Description

As a Merchandise Manager, you will play a crucial role in planning and selecting a commercially viable range of products and accessories for designated product categories. This position supports the company's strategy and budget objectives, ensuring turnover, quality, and service levels while achieving gross margin goals. You will manage the supply chain to maximize product availability and stock productivity. Furthermore, you will report directly to the Merchandise Director and oversee the personnel in Aruba and Curacao, totaling six team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage local range plans in collaboration with Regional Buyers/Merchandise Managers.
  • Ensure balanced brand portfolios across stores to accommodate various customer lifestyles.
  • Implement pricing strategies and maintain local assortment plans and store profiles.
  • Collaborate on annual sales plans and conduct monthly reviews with Regional Buyers/Merchandise Managers.
  • Manage SKU inventory and provide accurate monthly product forecasts.
  • Coordinate with marketing and operations teams to execute SML agreements and evaluate campaign results.
  • Cultivate relationships with local suppliers to align designs with market trends and company standards.
  • Monitor product performance and partner with technical services to resolve issues.
  • Analyze competitor marketing activities to maintain market competitiveness.
  • Support new store openings and refits, including store design and merchandising.
  • Develop partnerships to boost sales and explore new business opportunities.

You possess a strong personal drive and and have developed solid decision-making abilities throughout your career. Negotiation skills are essential for this position, and you motivate your team to achieve organizational goals.

Other requirements for this role include:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field;
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in a similar role within multinational import and logistics management;
  • Excellent interpersonal, report writing, and presentation skills;
  • Excellent communication skills in English; Dutch, Papiamentu and Spanish are a plus;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications;
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management and sourcing strategies;
  • Ability to plan and restock product assortments, forecast sales, and respond to market trends;
  • Strong business sense and proficiency in develop and implementing effective commercial strategies;
  • Proficient numerical abilities for efficient management of product categories;
  • Passion for retail and product life cycles.
